Thymosin beta-4 is a naturally occurring 43-amino-acid peptide first isolated from thymus tissue and present in most human cells. Its best-characterised cellular role is binding G-actin, which makes it a common subject in cytoskeleton research. Synthetic research material of this kind is often sold under the name TB-500.
Research background
Published work has explored thymosin beta-4 in cell-migration, wound-closure and cardiac-injury models, almost all in vitro or in animals. It is not an approved medicine and results from those models should not be extrapolated to humans.
